Fraud Reporting
Protecting Our Policyholders and Communities
At RAM Mutual Insurance, we believe in doing what’s right for our policyholders, our agents, and the communities we serve. Insurance fraud threatens that trust. It increases costs and affects honest customers.
What is Insurance Fraud?
Insurance fraud occurs when someone intentionally provides false or misleading information to receive an insurance payment for which they are not entitled. This can range from exaggerating details on a claim to intentionally causing damage in order to collect benefits.
Insurance fraud is a significant issue across the industry, contributing to higher costs for insurers and policyholders alike.
Fraud isn’t limited to policyholders. Anyone involved in the claims process could engage in it, including auto repair shops, home repair companies, contractors, and home renovators. That’s why it’s important to stay informed, be aware, and take care throughout every step of the claims process.
As a mutual insurance company, RAM Mutual has a responsibility to our policyholders to identify and prevent fraud while continuing to handle legitimate claims promptly and fairly.
While fraud can’t be completely prevented, it can be reduced when people speak up. If you suspect fraud, we encourage you to report it. Your voice helps protect your neighbors and preserve the integrity of our mutual company.
Reporting Insurance Fraud
If you suspect someone is attempting to gain an improper insurance payment, we encourage you to report it.
You can report suspected insurance fraud anonymously through the National Insurance Crime Bureau (NICB) by calling 800-TEL-NICB or submitting a report online at nicb.org.
You may also report suspected fraud to:
- Your state’s Department of Insurance or Commerce, or
- Local law enforcement authorities
Reports involving RAM Mutual policies may be reviewed by our Special Investigations Unit and shared with appropriate regulatory or law enforcement agencies, as permitted by law.
Doing Right by Each Other
At RAM Mutual, we’re proud to serve communities where people look out for one another.
Reporting fraud is one way we can all help protect what we’ve built together.
