RAM's New Office Building
RAM Mutual Insurance Company purchased approximately 54 acres of land in November 2016, located approximately one mile east of our existing office building on Highway 61 in Esko, MN. This property was purchased to accommodate the construction of a new office complex to replace our existing facility.
With the capable assistance of DSGW Architects in Duluth, MN, RAM has crafted a U-shaped floor plan consisting of approximately 25,000 square feet on two floors. Ray Riihiluoma Construction from Cloquet, MN was chosen as the general contractor.
The main level will be approximately 22,000 square feet and will feature a prominent front entrance and signage. A large reception area and our board room will be inside the front entrance. Our primary employee entrance will be on the west side of the building, near the employee parking lot. Additional parking will be available in front of and on the east side of the building. All 10 RAM departments will be housed on this level, and each area has some built-in expansion opportunities. Other features include a large multi-function conference room, two smaller conference meeting rooms, a technology training center, and two employee break areas.
The lower level is a partial basement of approximately 3,000 square feet and will house our building mechanicals, provide for some additional storage, provide some space for additional future offices, and serve as a safety area in the event of inclement weather.
The building and parking lot areas were cleared in May 2017, and earthwork was started. The basement level was excavated, forms were placed, and concrete was poured in early June. Plans are to continue with construction of the building and parking areas through the summer and fall of 2017. The building will be enclosed by fall 2017, with completion and occupancy slated for early 2018.
